There is so much to learn from Dogs, I can't really even think of them as pets since in reality the bond a Human and a Dog can develop is so strong they simply become family. If you are a Dog Lover like myself, I am sure you can relate and appreciate what our pups teach us throughout their life. I cherish Max's lessons of life deep in my heart and thank him for showing me by example HOW TO DO IT;
Be Brave no matter your size
Be Yourself
Unleash your talents
Dig Life
Sniff out opportunities
Chase after your dreams
Learn new tricks no matter your age
Make new friends
Enjoy the simple pleasure of a Walk
Greet Everyone with enthusiasm
Don't hold grudges (I am working on this one! ha)
Explore everything
Loyalty is a Virtue
Be supportive
Accept treats
Protect those you Love
Love Unconditionally
I believe these beautiful leassons can serve others to help remind us how to live our life to The Max! (pun intended) since we tend to get lost in busy schedules, forgeting to enjoy the time we got with the ones we love while they are still with us.
For Max's 17th birthday, I decided to do a fun Superhero Party and invite all our friends and neighbors to join us at the usual spot. Max was Batman, Baxter was Robin, Ranger was Superman!
In Max's honor, all gifts were donated to our local dog rescue Love Pup Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue organization founded by Johnjay and Blake Van Es. I was very happy to see our Friends and neighbors generosity at it's best! We filled a couple of baskets with lots of toys, treats, dog food, medications and accesories.
When I look back at these moments, I feel grateful for being able to celebrate with the ones who are part of our daily life such a happy day and once again, make Max's birthday an excuse to Dig Life!
I am overfilled with joy to know that Max enjoyed all the love from friends and neighbors who joined us back in April, and more since only a few weeks later, on May 12th, 2021, Max waived his tail a last good bye at age 17.
Although it feels he had left us with a void in our lives, our hearts are filled with lots of great adventures and priceless memories. Alex and I feel blessed to have had the gift of being with him during his last breath and although his body lost this battle, the memory of his unconditional Love will live with us Forever.
Thank you all who at some point of his life either helped us take him for a walk, provided medical care, joined us for his Birthday Parties, gave him a nice pat on his back or offered him a treat, I am forever grateful for it... meanwhile I'll say: "Until we meet again Max..."
